Navigating complex problems and building legislative coalitions comes naturally to Ryan. He joined August Strategy Group after working for a senior member of the Florida House of Representatives, where he supported key legislative and budget initiatives and managed high-level communications. Prior to that he worked on a presidential campaign and as a legislative consultant and government affairs director for a statewide healthcare association.

Ryan earned his degree from Florida State University and resides in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife, Sara.
